A new report by UCAS forecasts that the number of international students applying to study in the UK will rise by almost 50% over the next five years.
UCAS’ application data provides an overview of how the number of international students applying to undergraduate courses at UK universities has continued to grow in recent years.
The recent survey of international students from over 110 countries who plan to study internationally showed that 88% of students viewed the UK as either a positive or very positive place to study. 77% of students stated they were applying because of the U.K.’s strong academic reputation. In summary, the volume of undergraduate applications will increase by 46% to more than 200,000 by 2026.
“Despite the challenges of the pandemic, international students have pursued the opportunities available to them and we forecast sustained growth in interest to study in the UK to continue into the next decade.”

During the pandemic, over 155,000 international students chose the UK as their destination of choice and began their undergraduate studies, with 88% of international applicants continuing to see the UK as a positive or very positive place to study.
